Convert a JPEG photo into a lossless PNG. This is the right choice when you need an image that will be edited and re-saved repeatedly, or when a tool or platform specifically requires PNG.
This tool accepts JPG files. Everything is decoded by your own browser, so the formats available depend on what your browser can open - which for HEIC in particular varies between Safari and other browsers.
Because the image is rebuilt from raw pixels, EXIF metadata such as camera details, timestamps and GPS coordinates does not carry into the result. Orientation is applied to the pixels first, so photographs stay the right way up. Embedded colour profiles are also dropped and the output is saved as sRGB, which can shift colours slightly in wide-gamut photographs. Animated files are refused rather than being flattened to a single frame.
No. The conversion runs in your browser. Your image is never uploaded, which also means there is no size limit imposed by our bandwidth, only by what your device can hold in memory.

That is expected. JPG is lossy and PNG is lossless, so the PNG has to store every pixel exactly, including the compression artefacts already baked into the JPEG. Converting a photo to PNG typically makes the file several times larger.
No. Detail lost when the JPEG was created cannot be recovered. Converting to PNG preserves what is currently there and prevents further loss on future saves, which is its real benefit.
No. JPEG cannot store transparency, so there is none to carry over. The PNG will have the same solid background as the JPEG. Removing a background is a separate operation.
