Check a photo against eBay's image requirements
eBay publishes its picture rules openly, which is rarer in this category than it should be, and they are less about background than about what you add: it asks sellers not to put badges, logos, copyright notices or watermarks on listing photographs, and says these can affect where the listing appears in search.
This measures the dimensions and the format, and is explicit that the added-graphics rule is one only you can check.

This tool accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF files. Everything is decoded by your own browser, so the formats available depend on what your browser can open - which for HEIC in particular varies between Safari and other browsers.
Frequently asked questions
What size do eBay listing photos need to be?
eBay's own help pages state a minimum resolution of 500 x 500 pixels and recommend around 1,600 x 1,600, with uploads accepted up to 12MB. Larger is better within that because zoom needs the pixels. This page measures yours and says which side of those figures it falls.
Can I add a border or my logo to an eBay photo?
eBay asks sellers not to add badges, logos, copyright notices or watermarks, and says doing so can affect where the listing appears in search. This checker cannot see whether an image has them - detecting a watermark is a different problem from measuring a file - so it is listed as something for you to confirm rather than silently passed.
Does eBay need a white background?
Not in the way Amazon's main image does. eBay's published rules are about dimensions, file size, format and what you add on top, rather than about what sits behind the product, so this page does not fail an image for its background.
